About us
The company WeMa Probst Wolfgang Hofmann GmbH is a modern family business in the second generation, managed by Dipl.-Ing. Jörg Hofmann.
It was founded in 1971 by Mr. Wolfgang Hofmann with the name WeMa – Werkzeug -, Maschinen- und Anlagenbau.
In 1974 Wolfgang Hofmann acquired the company “PROBST”, which had been producing rod rounding machines and peeling machines for decades.
This resulted in the company name “WeMa Probst Wolfgang Hofmann GmbH”.
For 50 years, production has been carried out at the Freigericht site.
The proximity to the International Airport Frankfurt/Main (approx. 45 km south-east) is a great advantage of the Freigericht location. This is because our customers and interested parties can reach the company quickly.
The production of the machines takes place on approx. 5000 m².
The construction of the individual machine elements is created by means of a CAD program. Then it goes into production.
All necessary mechanical engineering activities are carried out, from material cutting, welding, CNC turning and CNC milling including machining of machine frames on a large boring mill, assembling of machines, painting up to the preparation of circuit diagrams, SPS programs and control cabinet construction in our own electrical department.
Our customers are mainly medium-sized companies up to large enterprises, which use our small timber sawmills or lines for serial production of pointed posts.
But also workshops for people with physical disabilities or agricultural and forestry companies benefit from our machines.
Our machines and plants are working in more than 70 countries all over the world, mainly in Europe and Great Britain, but also in Canada and Brazil, in Madagascar and in Russia, in Cuba and in New Zealand.
For our customers and interested parties we are available in German and English, but also in French, Russian and Italian.
We offer you our experience, we design and produce machines and equipment according to your requirements; we offer assembly, service and spare parts for our technology.
